With the release of TOMP-API version 1.2.0, we have added a few new features. In a series of blog posts over the next few weeks, we would like to go deeper into these innovations and explain the “what” and “why” in more detail. This post is about the integration of the CROW travelers dictionary format in the TOMP-API.
The standardized codes in this dictionary can be used from now on to plan and book using the TOMP-API. This helps to simplify and standardize the request for, or notification of, additional requirements. This should improve inclusion and accessibility.
The CROW travelers dictionary is the result of a collaboration between the government, transport operators, traveler associations, and independent specialists. The dictionary consists of code with corresponding characteristics and descriptions. With the use of these codes, the full trip of the traveler can be described unambiguously.
An example:
The code for a regular wheelchair is defined as “HR-01”.
Providing these requirements within the TOMP-API needs to be done by adding the following code (JSON-snippet)
"requirements": { "abilities": [ { "category": "HR", "number": "01" } ] }
The English version of the traveler dictionary is still in development, we will post an update on this as soon as it is available.
The Dutch version of the dictionary can be found here (registration is required):
